Task perfection vs. self-perfection

Posted by Rex Alexander on Wed 18 Mar 26 in Acceptance, Perfectionism, Rating, Task Perfection vs. Self Perfection, ULA, UOA, USA with Comments closed |

Many confuse the REBT idea of Unconditional Self-acceptance (USA) with being5rbs1-first-place-award-streamer-ribbon.jpg (165×245) cavalier unconcerned about how well they perform, and fear that embracing might cause them to lose their edge in a competitive, results-oriented society, possibly losing their work ethic and slipping into a passive, dysfunctional lifestyle. While this concern is understandable, it is unfounded. Embracing the REBT principles of Unconditional Self Acceptance (USA), Unconditional Other Acceptance (UOA), and Unconditional Life Acceptance (ULA) does not prevent or preclude one from participating fully in our competitive, commercial world.

Goodbye Jonathan von Breton

Posted by Rex Alexander on Sun 13 Sep 20 in Announcements, zomit with Comments closed |

Sun 13 Sep 2020, 4:33 pm

We have just heard the sad that much loved Jonathan von Breton (JvB) has passed away after a long illness. Jonathan was an inspiration who continued to shine a light for REBT and SMART Recovery in spite of pain and disability. Up until very nearly the end, Jonathan continued to publish his “Daily Al,” a collection of quotations by Albert Ellis which provided wisdom for many and inspired useful discussions here and elsewhere.

We will miss you Jonathan. Rest in Peace. I am certain you are well-beyond your suffering now.

Please share your thoughts and memories of JvB in the comments box
