2 What is the difference between “task-perfection” and “self-perfection.”
3. Can we be motivated without . . .

Beck on solving problems

Posted by Rex Alexander on Wed 1 Oct 25 in Aaron Beck, quotes with Comments closed |

The stronger person is not the one
making the most noise but the one who can quietly direct the conversation toward defining and solving problems.

Task perfection vs. self-perfection

Posted by Rex Alexander on Mon 29 Sep 25 in Acceptance, Perfectionism, Rating, Task Perfection vs. Self Perfection, ULA, UOA, USA with Comments closed |

Many confuse the REBT idea of Unconditional Self-acceptance (USA) with being5rbs1-first-place-award-streamer-ribbon.jpg (165×245) cavalier unconcerned about how well they perform, and fear that embracing might cause them to lose their edge in a competitive, results-oriented society, possibly losing their work ethic and slipping into a passive, dysfunctional lifestyle. While this concern is understandable, it is unfounded. Embracing the REBT principles of Unconditional Self Acceptance (USA), Unconditional Other Acceptance (UOA), and Unconditional Life Acceptance (ULA) does not prevent or preclude one from participating fully in our competitive, commercial world.

Nothing is ever 100% Awful (Are you sure?)

Posted by Rex Alexander on Sat 27 Sep 25 in Awfulzing, Books & Media, bookshop with Comments closed |

Over at the REBT-CBT Yahoogroup we have been having a fascinating–if-perennial–discussion about whether anything is truly awful . . . And, if it is true, as REBT asserts, that nothing is ever truly 100% awful, how can we convince clients of that?
