“Sensitive Souls”
and Managing Painful Emotions.

If you are a “sensitive soul,” depending upon your resources and circumstances, you may be faced with the dilemma of building, and then closing yourself in a walled, perfumed garden so that all the suffering, tragedy and injustice in the world cannot get to you. Or, on the other hand, operate as a “bleeding heart,” and possibly become depressed, immobilized, bitter and resentful, or otherwise find it difficult to function and enjoying life.

Enlightened self-interest???

. . .  human beings had better mind the fact that they live in a social world and that a philosophy of self-interest, where a person places him or herself first, also implies putting others a close second.
The Practice of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy”

How do we know whether our values are right or wrong?

Posted by Rex Alexander on Mon 20 Oct 25 in morality, Rational living, Rational Thinking with Comments closed |

We have been having a fascinating discussion at the REBT-CBT Yahoogroup about REBT and values.   A member points out that everyone has a collection of values; things and qualities which are important to them., and asks what REBT says about values and–more interesting–how do we know whether our values are right or wrong?

Search me!

Posted by Rex Alexander on Mon 20 Oct 25 in Admin, Announcements with Comments closed |
One of our important goals in developing the REBT Info website has been to build a permanent archive of REBT-CBT and related content available to professionals, students, fans and “civilians” alike. To realize this and to make it practical we, of course, have to have an excellent search facility to allow users quickly find the posts, articles and content they are looking for.

Voila! We have such a facility and invite our REBT Mates to make liberal use of it. You will find it on the right-hand side bar near the top. Search for people, books, articles, titles, subjects, anything.  No special training to operate it is required!
